Elda & Petrer

Elda and Petrer are situated in the North-West of Alicante Province, just off the Madrid Road (A31/N330) which starts at Alicante town.  It is approximately thirty minutes drive to the golden beaches at Alicante, and just a couple of minutes more to Alicante airport.  It is a one hour drive North to Benidorm or an hours drive South to Torrevieja, so very central for all areas, whatever you enjoy - traditional Spanish life or the more lively coastal areas.

There is a new hospital built in Elda which covers all surrounding areas, as the next largest hospitals are Elche and Alicante town.  There are many schools (including a University) and importantly buses, trains and coaches.

The town is deceptively large, it has city status and has over 80,000 inhabitants.  There is a Carrefour hypermarket as you turn off the Madrid Road on the Elda/Petrer sign.  There is a Burger King and 10 screen cinema in the complex plus other shops. Just across the road from Carrefour is a new shopping centre just opened called El Moro, including a sports centre, food hall and a drive thru McDonalds. 

The town has every kind of shop that you could ever need, there are also a good selection of  supermarkets, although one of the nicest places to buy fresh veg, fruit, flowers and most other supplies is the local indoor market (open 6 days a week) which is contained in two huge halls. 

On Tuesdays and Saturdays in Elda there is an open air market which goes along one of the main roads that runs down from the Madrid Road, which sells a good variety of clothes and shoes, etc.

There is also a golf course within 15 minutes drive!!
