Bioclimatic houses in Spain?

The aim of a bioclimatic house is to build a property which combines an harmonious synthesis between the land site on which the property will be constructed, and the all-year-round comfort of the occupants, whilst also taking into account the well-being of the environment by reducing the energy needs. A bioclimatic house will create an environment of well-being through pleasant temperatures, moisture control and an abundance of natural light in the whole house.

To ensure thermal comfort inside the property, a bioclimatic house takes into account both the climate and the environment. Combining both of these elements into the house will thus ensure freshness in the summer and warmth in the winter, making it pleasant to live in every day of the year. To achieve this, the freshness of the night in the summer is kept inside the house for as long as possible to keep it cool and in the winter the increased sunlight will increase the interior temperature to a comfortable level. Combining both elements, along with good insulation and the fact that our bioclimatic houses are built in the south of Spain, guarantees the thermal comforts of the occupants.

To mitigate possible excesses of temperature in the summer months the use of a simple ventilator can be used. In the winter if there is a lack of sunlight then a small wood stove is available.

A bioclimatic house is not more expensive to build than a conventional house. The fact that natural materials are used in the structure, and that the temperature and moisture are controlled by the natural characteristics of the area, means that the occupants save money because of lower electricity bills.

To build in bioclimatic is neither new nor a passing gimmick. Because our forefathers did not have the means to heat and cool their houses, they also were obliged to take account of the environment to achieve their comfort. On 21th of March and 21th of September, the windows are half in the shade in order to not overheat the house

On 21th of June, the windows are entirely in the shade in order to keep the freshness of the night in the house

On 21th of December, the windows are entirely in the sun in order to heat the house as much as possible.

The clients are invited to choose the dimension of the eaves as they would like more or less sun (heating) in the house.
It can be compensated as well with the shutters or blinds (included).
