Barinas is within the province of  Murcia, an area famed for its exportation of vegetables. Barinas itself has grown from the unity of many farms growing predominantly Almonds but  there are other fruit and vegetable plantations still in the area.

Barinas is not far from Fortuna and is less than 30 minutes Murcia city. Travelling times to airports are 40 minutes to Alicante and 50 minutes to Murcia and yet only 5 minutes away from town where there are four supermarkets, eleven bars and restaurants, banks, three hairdressers, two beauticians and a variety of other shops. There is a pharmacy and a health centre. It is also within ten minutes drive of the world famous spa baths of Fortuna.

Fortuna's spa baths are world renowned for their healing properties and visitors book into the local hotels from all over the world.

If you are of the energetic fraternity there are plenty of things to do that include all the sports facilities that are not too far away and if you prefer to take your exercise of the hoof there are plenty of  scenic walks around the mountains to be enjoyed.

The Barinas village festivals are magnificent in their splendour. Processions start at around 9.30 pm and go on until the early hours during which time bars and restaurants place all their tables and chairs outside to provide refreshments at. You will see representations from the Moors and Christians in their full battle regalia through to more modern dance troops from local schools.

The area is superb for horse riding as the are very many off road lanes and countryside walks. If riding is your favourite their are several riding schools in the region.

There are beaches within an hours drive. Most come with bars and restaurants lining them and some come with sports facilities available but there are some that give you peace and tranquillity - away from all the activity.
