The city of Torrevieja lies about 50 km southwest of Alicante and is reached via the road N332, a wonderful drive along the Costa Blanca with wonderful views.

Torrevieja marks a kind of language line between the traditional Valencian / Catalan in the north of the Costa Blanca and the Spain wide castellan spanish.
   
Further to the south you will find the more " spanish only " speaking people, while the area of Torrevieja and upwards is usually more bilingual ( valencian and spanish ).

The city of Torrevieja which literally translated means old tower ( old - vieja and tower - torre ) was first mentioned around 1800. It became famous in 1802 when it took over the salt administration from Orihuela. Apart from the salt industry today tourism and fishing are the main industries in the area. The harbour gives homes to a fishing fleet of over 300 and more than 900 private yachts.

The concentration of salt and the temperature combine to endow the local area with a particularly healthy micro climate, recommended by doctors for its beneficial properties.

The weather in Torrevieja makes for an ideal location for year round residential living and holiday activities - especially if you want to fulfill that yearning to get away from the worst of the winter months to one of the sunniest parts of europe.

The site is situated roughly 20km from Torrevieja and far enough away from the mass developed areas which have sprung up over the last decade. It still retains that charm which has long attracted people to this area in the first place, the nearest towns are Bigastro and Orihuela and the closest beaches are approximately 15 minutes by car.
